Book Review of Who Will Cry When You Die?

Who Will Cry When You Die? by Robin Sharma is a non fiction self help book. This book surely changes our outlook of looking at life. This is true that nobody has time for us, doesn’t matter if we live or die. A person will mourn for us for one day, two day or more than a month but slowly the memories will fade away. I know it is a New Year and I am talking about death here. But the truth I realized when I had lost a dear one. It is not that we don’t miss the person but slowly we learn to without them. When I had lost my grandfather, I used to mourn at his death. But now its been more than 6 years since he left us. I have accepted the fact that he is not around us but that doesn’t mean I never loved him. In all this, I learnt that we need to live our present for our life is too short to keep grudges, fights or anything.

The title of the book surely leaves in deep thoughts. It is not just a title but a question in itself that Who Will Cry When You Die? This reminds us of the time when we are busy in our professional life and miss the love of our family. It gives you a strong motive to pick up this book and know the reason as the book is so gripping in itself.

When you are born the World rejoice while you cry. Live a life in a such a way that when you DIE, the World should cry and you rejoice’ – Ancient Sanskrit Saying.

Robin Sharma’s book ‘Who Will Cry When You Die?’ is based on the above lines. Sharma talks about 101 ‘Life Principles’ you need to follow to die peacefully and worth-fully.

There is no plot or characters as in this book as it is a self help book. The way the author has talked about various aspects of life in form of 101 chapters is mind blowing. Some lines just touched my heart and I would surely quote them below.

The style of writing is poignant and the author gives us many references, iterations of his points. He has beautifully sculpted his points and one can just fall in love with the way he explains. No doubt, people admire him for his life lessons. He talks about corporate life, he talks about his personal life, he talks about his friends, then some experiments he ask his readers to perform. One feels comfortable while reading it and with the ease he explains is just enthralling. Some of my most loved quotes are:

‘When you were born, you cried while the world rejoiced. Live your life in such a way that when you die the world cries while you rejoice’

‘Kindness, Quite simply is the rent we must pay for space we occupy on this planet.’
