I know its been a long time since I have updated anything in Tagged Diaries but I was looking for a right time and here I am back with a happy moment to share. Last Sunday my grandparents celebrated their Golden Jubilee and it was a perfect time for all of us. We had a gala time in Batala.
Batala is a small town which is 2 hours away from Jalandhar. The function was scheduled around 12 in the noon and the venue was Grand Way1. It is just 1 km before we enter the main city Batala. My granparents hail from that town and our two most important Dadka family lives there along with their two generations. We have a huge family tree and it will take a whole post to write about it so I am exempting that segment.
Iqbal Rai Marwaha and Aruna Rani happens to be my cousin grandparents, as in , my grandfather’s brother. He completed 50 years with his beloved wife and guys, I tell you, he is the most handsome man I have come across and dadi is just a perfect lady to be around our happening family. The nuclear concept of families has separated our families but our whole Dadka family got united at the venue and it was a treat to spend time with happening family.
As we entered the place, the place was beautifully decorated and it was just perfect for this sort of occassion. The snacks were delicious and I wont be talking of them as you might shift your focus to the delicacies;)
Mostly such elderly parties are boring but Sareen family’s parties are always intriguing for everyone. The events started with a statue dance for children below 14 and 3 winners were selected. I was one of the volunteer who had to distract the kids. Trust me guys, its a hard job to distract children. It was fun.
The second game was for everyone. Some of the questions were asked like Whose wallet has a picture of their better half? and many more. So, those who matched with the things were given gifts. This activity completely hooked us.
The third game was a couple dance in which we got two winners. The couple dance was not at all easy guys. There was a balloon in the middle. Since we people had no partners so we clicked pictures of people performing. I was the one who entered in every game and danced like anything. The happiness was overloaded.
Then the last game was to open a chit and sing two songs. So, the words were amazing and everyone sang. The best part was everyone was excited about the events that were to be performed.
After all the games, the cake cutting ceremony along with the ring exchange took place. The Dj tuned the music to romantic songs. So, this beautiful couple was blushing. The love was in the air and it sounded so cute. In all this, we guys were busy hooting.
Then their was some dance for sometime and later on the lunch was scheduled. Again the food was sumptuous. I was hell tired and exhausted because of dancing like a maniac that I couldn’t duff more of food. I tasted that cutest cake. It was out of the world. After that, it was a time to say goodbye and we all were so nostalgic with happiness overpowering our faces. We met our relatives, cousins, distant ones. It was a perfect party. The bestest part was the family dadka picture. I am blessed to have such a huge family and I wish we could get back to olden times and stay together always. Our hearts are together.
In this tagged diaries, I will give my grandparents ‘The Golden Couple’ Tag. Stay tuned for more such updates and I promise, I will come back soon with amazing tag for a special person. Till then Like, comment and share this post, so that I can do some bhangra.
Hello lovely readers,
I know its been ages since I wrote about my tagged diaries. Actually, I was preparing and doing my research to write this post and I have got the chance today. Few days back I had created a buzz to surprise someone who has become a role model in my life. She is none other than our lovely, the founder of The Book Club and The Book Reviewing Group,Rubina Ramesh.
Rubina Ramesh( My Super Woman)
I came across her accidently actually. I was updating my post when I saw her posting some forms of book reviews on some groups. I wondered how can she manage to do all this, when I actually checked her site (http://www.tbcblogtours.com/tbc-blog). The blog tours she had hosted and the way people have responded actually got my attention. I thought she is some hard core mechanical lady who works day and night. When I joined the group I came to know about her better. She used to mail me my schedules and once I had signed up Sumana Khan’s blog tour but I got late because of my exams. I had her number so I gave her a whatsapp call and her voice sounded so beautiful. She told me to focus on my exams and the way she checked the things within minutes and informed me about the dates was just so perfect. She told me she had her kids too so she could understand the value of exams in one’s life. She strictly asked me to study and not read the book. I could sense a motherly tone in her. On that day she came to know that I was a student :P. This was my first interaction with her and I really loved it how she responded.
Rubina is really dedicated when it comes to work. She keeps us pumped even though we are lazy lads. It is difficult to handle so many book reviewers and sending them mails. She does that without delaying anything. She handles everything, be it sending mails, be it updating schedules, be it interacting with us on useful topics like publishing, marketing or editing. Not only she, all the members of her team, Sundari maam, Nilima maam, Inderpreet maam. They are simply the most well versed ladies I have ever come across.
My second interaction made me realise that she is from Arizona. I was stunned as how could a person from distant land handle the things so well inspite of being the time zones the biggest barrier. She works during nights when we are almost asleep, the reminders, mailers and the way she reminds us of inklinz and rafflecopter is hilarious. When I was new, I had no idea how to use these two inlinkz and rafflecopter which was next to impossible for me. She told me one thing ,” I am an old lady and I understand only inlinkz” I couldn’t stop laughing at her remark. The habit of self mockery actually inpire us. She treats everyone the same, be it her fellow friends or youngsters like us. She explained me about rafflecopter and I started trying it and when I won for two times, I always gave the credits to Rubina. We talked for almost an hour and she told me about many members, their habits and how they can help me in improving my work. The best part was when she praised me for my book reviews. This was my biggest achievement coming from her whose loved by everyone.
The third interaction was superb. We talked for almost an hour. She told me amazing facts about her. At that time she was doing Paromita Goswami’s blog tour. She asked me about the delay and I told her that I had 35 books to wind up. She told me thats a small number. I was again astonished by her answer. She said she had 100+ books that are to be read. I must tell you, this lady never stops to give me shocks. Then she said that she doesn’t start reading a book until she undergoes 100 gaalis from the author..haha.. This experience actually motivated me and now when I say these many books are pending, I don’t feel bad.
How The Book Club and The Book Review Group changed my life?
I always give credits to Rubina, the woman behind these groups. She made me a quick reader and my book reviews kept on improving because of her. I learnt alot about publishing and even marketing. I was not a regular person in these groups but I used to follow the discussions. Now she has started a new trend where we have to read each other’s posts and comment so that it give some exposure to us and our blog. To add more, she has started with retweets on twitter. This lady thinks about everything. Thats why I call her a super woman.
In all this, how can I forget this Tornado giveaway. Trust me, I had no idea about it but this lady’s initiative helped so many authors starting from newbies to the established ones. This is a giveaway where so many authors take part in it and yes, I took part in it this time so I am super excited about it. Want to know about it?
The forms of this year’s Tornado Giveaway has been filled and we are waiting for November to start.

Golden words for Rubina :
“Rubina is a super woman 😀 “- Surbhi Sareen
“I have a nickname for Rubina. I call her ‘Queen Rubes’ because she is like a vampire queen to us: up all night, never getting enough sleep, reaching out across time zones and borders to bring authors and readers, reviewers and bloggers together. She’s one of the most dedicated and dynamic people I’ve met, and what’s probably the most surprising thing about it all is that she has SO much to deal with but still is so kind and cheerful all the time. She’s the heart and soul, mind and body of the TBC.” – Devika Fernando
“I am a well-known writer today only thanks to Rubina Ramesh’s marketing skills. I must say the lady does it from the heart.” – Sundari Venkataraman
“She is a friend I cherish. I respect her opinions and advices. Just few words with her makes me feel positive. Her words have been encouragement for me so many times especially when I have been low.
That could be the jist of how I feel about having known her and befriended her. But I can go on and on and on ” –Reshma Ranjan
“She is kind, helpful and most importantly a down to earth person.” -Inderjit Kaur
“She is extremely focused, enterprising and innovative. Her tireless promotions and support are a big help to authors.” -Usha Narayanan
“She’s dedicated to the cause of the writers. The energy and time she puts into backing authors and their works is both admirable and unbelievable. I have the privilege of having my books Against All Rules and More Than Just Desire hosted by her TBC tours and found many of my readers that way. Be it day or night, I’m amazed at how Rubina never fails to address any concern of her team and her authors. She’s a lovely person to know, having poise and great sense of humour. In addition to the tours she’s helped in all the cover reveals of my books. “- Summerita Rhayne
‘Rubina is an amazing person. Not just for the work she does but how she does it. She’s an expert at handling both the authors and the bloggers in an honest and friendly manner. I have done 5 book tours with TBC all because I knew Rubina would deliver a comprehensive and fantastic tour. She has delivered more than expected. She is now a friend that I cherish. Wishing Rubina all the very best in all her endeavors. ‘ – VArsha Dixit
Where to find Rubina Ramesh? 😛
She is not a don so yes, we can definiately trace her on her sites :
It took me almost 16 years to come up with this title for this man. This man is my saviour and the reason because of whom I am alive again. I have written many facebook posts about him just in a hope that one day I will find him. But to my bad luck, I will never be able to find him. So, I want to share my heart out about this person who is so special and I have blurred memories about him still I feel connected. He is Dr. Rishi, my mysterious man ‘The MYSTERIOUS U’!
Dr. Rishi (Mysterious U)
I met him on 1 September, 2001. I was taken to Satyam Hospital as I had met with a deadly accident. I was almost dead and everyone had lost the hopes of my survival even my parents were in a fear that anytime the news of my death would come. My dad was in a shock, my mom and others were praying to God for my survival. I could unclearly remember when I reached the hospital, in a semi conscious state I saw a lean face. He was there in the OPD. He assisted the other doctors. I underwent 6 operations, 2head, 1upper and lower jaws, 2 stomach operations and an operation to deal with my spleen rupture. Yes, after that I was shifted to ICU and yes, I was not dead. Had I been dead I would not have been here writing about it. Okay, its not a joke. I was under machines and loads of pipes were attached to me. I was just 8 years old child and so much to handle. I could see him as he used to come for my head dressing.
I was half asleep when I heard someone talking to me.
“Hey Surbhi! How are you doing?”
I didn’t speak, just looked at him. A familiar face called me. Oh! He is the same guy who operated me. I heard him following the instructions. I thought that he was there to give me injections. Oh! I hate Injections. I looked at him and didn’t say anything. It was the first time in 4 days I had gained my full consciousness. I just nodded stating that I was fine. He said he was there to do my dressing. I pointed at the injection to inquire. He smiled gently and said he was not there to give me any injection. I was relieved. I gave him a wry smile. He told me his name was Dr. Rishi and he was handling my case. He looked lean, a black moustache and yes, not to forget his doctor’s coat and that stethoscope. He did my dressing and I felt safe around him. I told him I hate the smell around me. He quickly asked the attendants to clean the place around me. I said thankyou and he went.
After three hours another operation was scheduled as some stones entered my body( I don’t know the medical terms). I was again taken to the OPD. He was there and he gave me a smile. I was super scared after seeing those dangerous devices used during the operation. His eyes met mine and he said,” It will pain you a little, just look at me.” I don’t know why I felt safe around him. I looked at him. I was in pain , crying but when I looked at him that pain felt like a healing to me. After that torture ,I slept for God knows how many hours.
Slowly I became addicted to him. I was an arrogant, adamant, stubborn soul and when my wishes were not fulfilled I used to refuse everything, doesn’t matter that harmed me only. One day he didn’t come for my dressing and another doctor came to do my dressing. I bluntly told him to call Dr. Rishi. He had another patient to attend to. I shouted and screamed when that doctor tried to touch my head.Yes, by this I made him clear that I am a tough nut to crack. He tried to bribe me with good words and chocolates but all I wanted was him. After 2 hours he came and he did my dressing. I was angry at him. I told him that I won’t let anyone touch my head other than him. He smiled. We were getting used to each other. He used to come in his free time and play ludo, snake n ladders with me. He used to take me for hospital rounds and we used to comment on various nurses around us. I used to throw those sticky lizards on them and make them irritated like hell and yes, I always had Dr. Rishi at my rescue.
On 17 th September, I told him that the next day was my birthday and I wanted to celebrate it. My nani agreed and yes for the first time in my life the venue was the hospital. Sounds wierd eh!He promised me that he would be there in time and before that he has some rounds and regular checkups to attend to. I agreed. The other day was exciting as everyone was wishing me. The hospital room was being decorated with balloons and other accessories. My mom told me that Dr. Rishi got that for me. I was elated. I couldn’t wait to see him in the evening. HE didn’t show up till the birthday celebrations. All the hospital staff and doctors including my friends and relatives were invited. All were enthralled as they had never seen any celebrations in the hospital. My eyes were searching just one person, Dr. Rishi. The party was at 5, he didn’t turn up. Then I waited for him till 6:30. All were compelling me to cut the cake as they had to go and complete there work but I was stuck to one point.” When Dr. Rishi will come, I will cut the cake!” Some waited and while some went. Nobody has that much patience I tell you! He finally came at 7. He had some candies and flowers in his hand. He said he wanted to be on time but it took him time to get the gifts. I had a happident smile on my face. I realised this man is something. We cut the cake and he sang birthday song for me. It was the cutest birthday around him. We together checked the gifts and gave comments on them. Even those nurses whom I always teased gave me gifts.
I was recovering and these interactions were going on and one day after 4 months, the doctor announced that I could go to my home.’HOME’.. this word made me realise I was not there for 4 months. But I started feeling pain in my heart. The feelinf of separation from this new place called HOSPITAL which I started feeling as my home. I no more hated this place. ANd a deep realisation struck me that I won’t be able to see Dr. Rishi. But I was told that I had to come after every 2 days for a dressing. I got some strengths. I used to meet him. I used to tell him all the stories and my favourite one was Hensel and Greatal. We used to invite him on dinners and sometimes I used to visit his hostel with my dad. We even used to exchange gifts on Diwali. After 15 days of my home coming I was hospitalised again. I couldn’t move my legs. And doctor said it was PARTIAL PARALYSIS. He was upset and couldn’t see me in that condition. He tried to console me but something hit my head that I would never be able to walk. My innocent words pained him. I could sense he was trying his best to help me. He knew it would take another 6 months to recover. He linked me with Dr. Panja. I don’t remember his full name. I hated him so much. He was completely stupid and my NAni used to tease me ‘ YOUR PAnja has come :P’
I refused to get myself treated with him. Dr. Rishi came to me and he was damn serious this time and said,” Why are you troubling others? Do you know that your DAD is in depression( I didn’t know this term, I just listened to him) Your mom has taken so many leaves from her school. Your grandparents come to see you everyday. Your relatives are worried, your best friend miss her study time to meet you and you are creating a mess. Do you know how much we all care for you?” His eyes were moist. He was hurt. He wanted to see me walking. He said he will be there with that stupid Panja. Yes, he accompanied him though it was not his field. I recovered from that phase also. Our bond strengthened. I felt happy around him. I had found a friend, a brother, a soul keeper in him. I felt only he could handle me well.
Yes, after an year of mess I again celebrated my birthday and this time at my home. HE was invited for sure. When I saw him, I jumped in his arms like a tiny toddler. He held me in his arms and embraced. My dad clicked that picture. The one and only picture I had with him. He gifted me a teddy bear which I still have it. The next day when I went for checkup, he said he was going to Shimla, his hometown. And that was our last meeting.
He healed me from my pains and left me. After a month, when we went for our last checkup we came to know that he had left the hospital as his work period( internship) was over. I was devastated. It has been 16 years since that incident. I met him just to lose him. Even today I shed fresh tears for him. I know he loved chicken , egg curry, moong dal, chocolates, pineapple juice. We were just perfect companions. I never met a person who made me feel so special. Even today I hug that teddy bear and cry to sleep. I know this much that when he left, he took away my soul too. A friend, a brother, a sould keeper whom I will never meet.
I wish I could meet him once and say that I miss him. I wish I could tell him that I am not that arrogant girl who used to mock at people. I wish I could tell him that I still remember his words. I wish I could tell him that his name still make me smile. I wish I could tell him that I still have that Teddy Bear.I wish I could say Thankyou and SOrry to him.
And now, I don’t visit that hospital because it reminds me of him. I have stopped going to Kalpa Flourists because the flowers there reminds me of him. I don’t go to that hostel where he used to live. I no longer search him on facebook because after so much of efforts I have realised that we were destined to never meet. It was God’s role play that he sent you as an angel who gave me life and I am greatful to you for this life. I just pray that where ever you are, you just stay happy. But yes, You will always be my MYSTERIOUS U who came in my life and just vanished like a mystery.
This is Sara (yes, you used to call me after you heard it from my dad) signing off! This post will remain close to my heart.
Hello everyone! I am starting this tagged diaries as I have kept this category for some different set of people whom I want to give some tag so that whenever I look down the memory lane those tags come in my mind. The first person whom I want to tag here is Aman.
Amazing Photographer( Amandeep Singh Chabhal)
Amandeep, popularly known as selfie addict and an amazing photographer is my dear friend who knows the knack of clicking pictures from different angles. I met him three years ago at my class, so he happens to be my classmate. The aura of meeting a different person could be seen. So, I call him selfie addict as well because this guy is fond of cell phones and the way he click pictures be it of others or himself is impeccable. And to add more his super sexy cool cell phone which everyone wants to have helps him to capture amazing photographs. He even has an amazing professional camera and is a vivacious Photographer. I am amazed by his talent.
Amandeep hails from a town named Chabhal which is near Amritsar. Beside being an amazing photographer he is a fantastic human being and a friend of friends. He can go to any extend to help you and this quality makes him special. He will never leave you at your worst times and would do anything to make you smile after you have cried.
Aman’s religious attitude can impress most of the people. The way he handles the issues related to Gurudwara collection is highly appreciable. He is a jolly person and has a heart of gold. I am glad to have him as my friend. Furthermore, the way he says ‘BATMEEJ’ in a different style can make anyone laugh. Not to forget his, announcement speech ‘ BAHUT KHOOBSURAT ITEM PESH KARAN JA RAHE HAI SADE FANKAR AMANDEEP SINGH..’
This is Surbhi signing off… will be back with more tagged people and stories behind them 🙂
