Book Review of 34 Bubblegums and Candies

34 Bubblegums and Candies by Preeti Shenoy is her debutante non fiction book. I have read her fiction novels like Life is What You Make It, It Happens For a Reason, It’s All In the Planets and they all have been fantastic. I have read her blogs as well and wanted to know her better, so I thought of buying her first book. This book is a collection of blog posts and some stories that are related to author’s life. This book is dedicated to her late father who has been her inspiration. It took me just one hour to complete this book and I was moved by the thoughts of the author. This book gave me a better perspective to look at her.

The cover of the book surely matches the title of the book as it says 34 bubblegums and candies. The author compares this with her husband and her children. The way she beautifully expressed her personal life experiences is just amazing. I just couldn’t top admiring the thoughts of the author.

The very first chapter is dedicated to her father whom she calls her best friend. The way she simply narrates the story binds the readers together. At the end of this short story, we surely shed tears and that remorseful feeling in our eyes in the form of new tears makes it poignant.

Some of the chapters talk about the hilarious experiences of the author and also the people she is linked to and admires them. From these, we come to know that her anecdotes were from her own life, her experiences with her father, mother, children and even her dear husband. They have been beautifully expressed.

The style of writing is simple. No fancy words are used as the main purpose of the author is to convey her thoughts. The descriptions and anecdotes are simple perfect. There are certain quotes used by the author which are loved by the readers. I am glad that I picked up this book.
