Pre- Release Review: Her Last Wish

It gives me an immense pleasure that I am the first one to read and review this book. Her Last Wish by Ajay K Pandey is his second book. This book talks about love in a unique way. Further, the elements of morality story can be seen in this piece.

Full_Cover.jpg

Cover- The cover is mesmerising, soothing and eye pleasing. One can feel that the two people in the cover are in love. This cover has beautifully highlighted one point,”It is important to be with each other”

Title- The title is simple but has a deeper meaning which we comes to knowin the end. Its not just the wish but the infinite love of a husband for his wife. The story revolves around it.

Genre- This novel can be categorised as a Romance or a Tragedy.

Blurb- Her Last Wish is a story of a guy burdened with his father’s  expectations and mother’s over protective rules. Then love walks into his life as his life partner. The story is his fight with the world and even destiny as he tries to pull his wife out of the clutches of a fatal disease, trying to fulfill her wishes and making her happy.

Plot- The plot construction is gripping and it surely keeps you glued till the end. The story is about Vijay who is a hopeless man. But when he gets married to Astha, a confident girl life changes for him. The way he handles her disease is the rest of the story. The story is unpredicatable. It looks simple to crack to the code but as you progress in your reading your notions are proved wrong.

Characterization- The author has surely played with the minds of the characters. The best part is, all the characters in this story are round characters as everyone undergoes a change in the latter half of the novel. It is often stated that the protagonists are the favourite characters. They are always, but this time, I felt more connected to the supporting characters because without their role, the story would have no meaning. I am impressed by the mother and father of Vijay who are the pillars of this novel. The way they helped in the progression of the story is impeccable. I would say no father is like Vijay’s father and no mother is like Vijay’s mother. Vijay’s father played the role of a true friend in the lives of Vijay and Astha whereas Vijay’s mother is a confident woman whose love is unexplainable.

Highlights of the Novel

Ad02.jpg

The book talks about morality. This takes us back to the ancient drama times where Morality Plays were shown. Well, these morality plays were based on human virtues like anger, sadnees, happiness, revenge, forgiveness. This novel has one of these virtues which are beautifully highlighted hence, I could make out that this is a morality story.

The Epistolary technique of novel writing used by author is an icing on the cake. These letters are in form of point of views of different which surely takes away the hearts of the readers.

Style- The style of writing of the author is surely unique. It is neither simple nor complicated yet it has some different essence of novel writing. Maybe the author writes as a husband, thats he can bore such emotions which just melts your heart and force you read the story. Some of the lines are heart touching and can become axioms in near future. The descriptions, editing are perfect. i would say the author has experimented with multiple point of views which is a huge risk but according to me, this is worth it. This book has surely stolen away my heart and I would strongly recommend you all to read it.

Book Review of The Way She Loved

The Way She Loved is a typical love saga penned by Nitin Kumar. This book has an extraordinary way of showing love. It is believed that some show love on face while some love but others never come to know about their love. This story celebrates love in the most unique way.

Cover- The cover of the book has amazing colours which reminds us of the setting sun. This colour scheme gives us a gesture that every setting sun has a rising morning. Hence, the cover surely takes away the hearts of the readers.

Title- The title mesmerises the readers and this gives us a glimpse about the main focus of the story i.e Love at its best.

Blurb- Every relationship has ups and downs. But, only those relationships that sustain separation and pain will stand the test of time.

Ayush, a small town boy, falls in love with Arpita who is older than him and already has a boyfriend. After much struggle, he succeeds in getting into a relationship with her. They fall in love but end up going their separate ways.

Ayush is deeply affected by the breakup and is plagued by unanswered questions.

What were the reasons behind Arpita’s change in behavior? Did she really love him? Would he learn to live with the pain?

Does Ayush come to understand The Way She Loved?

Plot- The plot is simple, common and still binds the attention of the readers. The story progresses in a steady way. The story revolves around Ayush, who happens to be a small boy and falls madly in love with Arpita, a girl older than him. The way their relationship meets its destination is the rest of the story.

Theme- The main theme to focus on is love and only love. But it has many perspectives of love. It surely gives us an idea about love, sacrifice.

Characterisation- The author has beautifully delineated his characters. Ayush is an interestung character who loves Arpita from the core of his heart and does every possible thing to be with her. On the other hand, Arpita is a complex character who is difficult to understand but the end part surely makes us fall for her.

Style- The style of writing is simple, lucid and condensed. The way the author has used the technique of omniscient narrative is mindblowing. Some of the sentences are much appreciated like :

“Everything happens for a reason but you need to is convert it into a good one.”

Last but not the least, the editing could have been better. But as a first time writer, it is a wonderful job.

Book Review of Glitter and Gloss

Glitter and Gloss by Vibha Batra is a light hearted romance novel blended with humour. The novel is well known for its witty dialogues and the way it involves Bollywood instances is impeccable.

glitter-and-gloss-193x300

Cover and Title- The cover is classy and the image perfectly suits it. This throws light on the glamourous world somewhere or the other. The title suggests that the story is about cosmetics , beauty salons and probably its sponsored by M.A.C as there is clear cut mention of this brand.

Plot- The plot is predictive still it binds the readers till the end. The story revolves around Misha is a makeup artist at M.A.C and bumps into Akshay one day. They fell for each other but as they say every story has a villain and his didi is one such person who wants a typical bahu for her brother. Will Misha be able to convince Didi? Does her love has enough power to hold back Akshay?

Characterisation- The author has beautifully portrayed her characters and my personal favourite is Misha who is a power house of energy. She never fails to make others feel awkward and her blabbermouth throws her in an awkward sitaution always. She is a makeup artist at M.A.C. She is hilarious and witty. The way she handles the things from her professional to love life is enthralling.

Akshay is the heir of Agarwal Jewellers who is tall, lean and a successful businessman. He falls for Misha but he loves his Didi so much. It is difficult for him to choose between his Didi and his love.

Style- If you are a grammar Nazi then surely, you will not love this piece but if you are reading like a layman and enjoying the witty, hunourous dialogues then surely, it is a treat to read Vibha’s writing. The Bollywood dialogues keeps you hooked till the end but at times those Hindi phrases are a turn off. Overall, its an interesting read and can be converted into a comedy film.

I am Big So What?- A Review

Shuchi Singh Kalra’s I am big so What? is one of the thought provoking book. It focusses on the carefree living and it challenges those sterotypical notions about fat people and even the marriage alliances. The book is famous for its witty language which takes away the hearts of the readers.

292001571.jpg

Cover- The cover of the book is colourful and it has a picture of a girl who seems plumpy but still manages to look classy. This gives us a slight idea that the story highlights the life of a plumpy or fat girl.

Title- The title is perfect and the story revolves around it. The way the author has used the title with a question mark is actually a Rhetorical question and in a way challenges the changing in progress society.

Plot- The plot is crisp and doesn’t lose focus till the end. It elucidates the life of Roli who has low esteem because of her oversized body. She face rejections at many places but doesn’t lose hope until she comes across her seventh suitor who is just like her. The way she overcome her fears, find herself is the rest of the story.

Characterisation- The author has beautifully portrayed her characters. Every character is given special importance and have their set of stories to tell. The way the author has drawn the portrait of Roli is mind blowing and we instantly fall for her.

Kabir Wagh’s character is most apppreciable. He has that appealing style which one cannot ignore. The way he does everything for Roli and look after her looks so cute. Whereas, the other characters also surprise us with their set of ideas.

Style- The author has used third person narrative and paired up with impersonal descriptions. Further, the witty style is surpassable. The language is simple and lucid. The dialogue structure is impressive and the author has amazingly added humour and emotional drama in this book.

Book Review of The Three Wise Monkeys

The Three Wise Monkeys by Jeet Gian is a light hearted novel flavoured with humor and loads of puns. This novel shows us that the author has planned to laugh our hearts out while reading.

Cover- The cover has light coloured scheme and perfectly proves the motive as it has three monkeys in the most wierdest poses which will surely make you laugh. This gives us an idea about the element of humor being a major part.

Title- The title is witty and grabds the attention of the reader. Three Wise Monkeys is an apt title which is a pun intended by the author.

Blurb- The trio – Amar, Akbar, and Anthony – had no clue whatsoever about their goddammit indecisive careers – and – indefinite – struggles.

And that was because they were born with the Peter Pan Syndrome and were simple enough to be tricked by anyone, including their mystifying girlfriends – Meghna, Farah, and Sarah.

And as is the fate of all morons, they were drawn into trouble – deep trouble – of hiding crores of rupees of black money in secret offshore companies.

Will their mistake of turning a blind eye to the philosophy of ‘See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’ cost them their careers and put them in prison?

Or

Will Lady Luck change their fortunes forever?

Plot- The plot is gripping as it revolves around the lives of three people Amar, Akbar and Anthony and the way they handle the situations in the most humourous ways. They have serious issues but always tackle them with their witty attitude even if they are in grave trouble.

HUmour as an Element- The author has artisitically added humour in his novel and the use of witty dialogues related to politics and bollywood is appreciable.

Theme- The themes of relationships, love, comedy, corruption can be noticed in this novel.

Characterisation- The author has crafted his characters artistically. All have their own stories be it Amar, Akbar, Anthony or their girlfriends. The way the girlfriends play with them makes the readers pity them sometimes. The situations created are extremely serious but depicted in a light manner.

Style- The style of author is simple, lucid and pithy. The way he has used puns, witty sentences, comedy of manners is mind blowing. The readers end up with hearty laughter in the end.
