A tawaif is being interviewed – read her heart wrenching and hard-hitting realities as she opens up about what she has gone through and how she became ‘Meina Jaan’. A mother allows her rights to be discounted as she fears to confront the truth about an extramarital affair of her husband; she pays a hefty price for it. ‘The house of widows’ initially cannot welcome the arrival of a free bird in the nest but then something happens that appears to be dramatic flip in the entire scenario. Broken Bangles consists of these three short stories which leave a lot of things unsaid but also stirs up the readers as they silently demand to be heard.
It would be great if you can add this book to your TBR

About the Author

Almost as soon as Devika Fernando could write, she imagined stories and poems. After finishing her education in Germany and returning to her roots in Sri Lanka, she got a chance to turn her passion into her profession. Having lived in Germany and in Sri Lanka with her husband has made her experience the best (and the worst) of two totally different worlds – something that influences her writing. Her trademark are sweet, yet deeply emotional romance stories where the characters actually fall in love instead of merely falling in lust. She draws inspiration from everyone and everything in life. Besides being a romance novel author, she works as a self-employed German web content writer, as a translator, and as a faithful servant to all the cats, dogs, fish and birds in her home. What she loves most about being an author is the chance to create new worlds and send her protagonists on a journey full of ups and downs that will leave them changed. When she’s not writing, she’s reading or thinking about writing.

Walking on the Path of Indie Publishing by Rubina Ramesh

rubina vol 2

Walking on the Path of Indie Publishing by Rubina Ramesh is the second book in the series of The Writer’s Toolkit. The cover is simple as it is just a manual for publishing a book. The author has sectioned this book which explains the basic steps of publishing.

Besides writing a book there are many more steps which an author has to go through. This has been delineated by Rubina wonderfully. I especially loved the way the author has sited examples from her books and others.

Besides being a great writer, Rubina is a multi-talented person who is a pro at editing, beta reading, marketing and now kindle publishing.

Through her book, Rubina has given wings to the other authors who are struggling to find the right set of people for their book.

I am in awe with the Toolkit series. It is a must buy book and you can finish it in minutes. The contents of this book are more for implementing.
