Book Review of The Quest of the Sparrows

The Quest of the Sparrows by Kartik Sharma and Ravi( Nirmal Sharma) is a religious and a spiritual fiction which enlightens our minds. For a change it is not a love story and this genre actually got my attention as I have rarely read this type. I am glad that I picked up this book.

The cover of the book is simple and elegant. It somewhere serves the motive of the authors and their message. The sparrows serve as a symbolic figure.

The title is relevant and has some sort of symbolism in it. Sparrows play as a catalyst in it.

A seemingly ordinary young man forced to become a guru takes a leap of faith and sets off with his followers on a taxing journey that changes their mindsets and lives forever. Inspired by the carefree life of a sparrow, reluctant guru Partibhan takes off on a 600 kilometre expedition on foot to test his theory of practical spirituality. He believes that human beings can become powerful creators, but the desire to secure the future makes them mere survivors. However, survival isn’t the only goal of life. A much bigger role, a higher calling awaits us. Will Guru Partibhan and his disciples complete the journey? Will they discover their true potential and find everlasting joy? Looks at the importance of spirituality in today’s fast paced world. A must read for all those feeling burnt out and wondering about the ‘higher purpose’ of their lives. The story of a young man who finds his calling in life, written in a relatable manner.

The story is beautifully woven. The authors have kept in mind the thought process and at times we feel they are playing with ur minds. The use of multiple point of views makes it interesting. Every story has some significance and they can be used as separate stories as well. Basically is focus on a man and even Guru Partibhan who through his ways gives us a purpose of living. The delineation is apt. The characters are fantastic and easy to understand though the authors tried to make it complicated.

Coming to writing style, this is just so perfect. The multiple point of views, stream of consciousness thoughts makes it perfect.Some of the liners deserve to be preserved as quotes. The authors have done full justice to the book and kuddos for bringing up such a different concept.

Book Review of With Me/Otherwise

With Me/ Otherwise by Sheetal S. is a poetry book that includes collection of 50 poems which are magificently delineated. Poems are difficult to comprehend as they showcase the thoughts of the poet. In poetry genre, a poet is free to write about anything, it is a free flow of emotions and Aristotle says, ” Poetry is an art of imitation.”

Thought Process:

The thought process of the poems are difficult to understand as the thoughts are hidden somewhere in variety of words used. The poems are about romance, emotional thoughts,desires,confused mind,observations, rituals,surrealism.

Sheetal reminds me of EE Cummings who never followed syntax in his poetry. Similarly, Sheetal’s poetical scribbles are devoid of punctuations and capital letters. Technically speaking, it isn’t correct but when we look at this poetry genre, in this everything becomes correct. It is poet’s imagination, their thoughts and the way they look at things, we can’t see that perspective.

The writing style of the poet is lucrative. The use of transfer epithets, metaphors, alliterations, rhyme patterns makes it poignant. Some of the headings of the poems are taken from different language. The poems don’t follow any particular pattern. Some of them are in verse form, while some are lyrical. They are mainly irregular in nature.

It seems that Thursdays are unlucky for the poet as two poems talk about the loss on the very day. Sheetal has beautifully talked about the lost umbrella and the melancholic thoughts.

The cover of the book is simple, elegant and graceful while the title of the book delves feelings of curiousity in us. The book consists of 50 poems and all these poems give us varied range of thoughts.

Book Review of Riots of Love

Riots of Love or Mohabbat Ke Dange by Shikha Kaul is a revolutionary thriller. This is her third book and those who have read her other two books can make out the difference. The author sees to experiment alot with the genres and concepts. This book is exceptional and with such type of stories, you are at loss of words.

The cover of the book surely grabs your attention and it makes you think that it is related to border as we see a line and this reminds us of Hindustan Pakistan Border line. But the story has something else in store for us but this cover arise the hunger to read the book soon.

The title is just marvalous and it is related to a campaign. The author seems to have been inspired by that. The story revolves around the title and it justifies the theme of the story. The interesting fact about the title is its hindi title. Mohabbat Ke Dange has its own essence and it turned out to be a blessing for the book.

Avi Shandilya claims to have killed the young children of four very influential men of India belonging to four different religions and bearing the extremist ideologies. Aatif Khan, one of the top Film stars in Bollywood Saahitya Nath, a strong politician and the leader of a Hindu group Andrew James, a renowned anchor on a leading news channel Jaswant Singh, a top politician in Punjab standing for next elections The world is shocked to see such ghastly and cowardly act by the man who founded ‘Mohabbat Ke Dange (Riots of Love)’, a campaign that stands for unity, peace, communal harmony and humanity. Will the fathers of the dead children take revenge or are there more mysteries left to be unfolded? Will Avi’s supporters stand by him after his inhumane crime? A gripping tale of patriotism and thrill that will give you chills and force you to think and discover the concealed version of everything that goes around. 

The plot is neatly woven and this book shows a thorough research. It might look controversial but it is not. It is just a simple thought which is delineated beautifully through various characters.

The characters are lively and fantastic. Avi Shandilya is a motivational character who not only motivates the other characters but also the readers. Aatif Khan, Andrew James, Jaswant Singh, Saahitya Nath plays a significant role and their children brings a ray of hope and revolution.

This is not only a patriotic thriller but has traces of social novel in it which further has elements of suspense, mystery in it. The concept of flashbacks, stream of consciousness, point of views makes it enteratining. We can also notice wit, humour in it. This book also focus on real life events which have brought a tremendous change in the society.

I am much familiar to the style of writing of Shikha Kaul. She uses simple yet powerful language and can lure you with her thoughts. For a moment you can even picturise the whol novel in your mind. At the same time, it keeps you in deep thoughts and when your guesses are proved wrong, thats the time where the author wins our hearts. As mentioned, this book is in process of movie making and no doubt, it surely deserves it. The twist and turns are the key features along with the sarcasm and witty dialogues used in it. This book is a must read book and I am glad that I picked up this book.

‘The HINDU’ calls Priyank’s books, which has stories inspired from real life to be perfect in portraying the power of love.


Bollywood film maker Imtiyaz Ali conveyed his words to Priyank at a literary event in Delhi that he could see Priyank emerging out as a potential story writer from his city Jamshedpur.


Priyank is an author, a start up lover cum aspiring entrepreneur, a story teller and a motivational speaker. He is a gold medal winner in creative writing at the National level. He was named as the Best Debut Author of 2014 by Aagman Literary Organization, a Delhi based literary and cultural house for his novel ” I am dead but my heart beats. ”


He completed his Engineering from BIT Sindri, Dhanbad in 2015. He has delivered story telling sessions and motivational talks across many organizations in a short span of one and half year. He is the founder of Embellish India, a start-up he kicked off while in college. Currently, he works for a Delhi based funded start up after resigning from his first MNC job at TCS.


Born in Amethi (Uttar Pradesh) on 29th October, in a Maithil Brahmin family and brought up in Ghatsila (a small town near Steel city Jamshedpur in Jharkhand), Priyank’s dream is to bring changes in the country and make it a better place to live in. Candid Session with Sandeep Sharma

Hello lovelies..

It’s been a while since I updated any interview. Today we have Sandeep Sharma, an author, publisher and a dear friend of mine. He is the co-founder of Author Paradise and the author of two books Hey Dad Meet My Mom and Let the Game Begin. When I was interviewing people, I realised that I forgot to interview him and I quickly pinged him up; luckily he took out time from his busy schedule and shared his valuable thoughts. He is not just an author but a person who can change the lives of many people. He is a true inspiration and if you ever get a chance to listen to his lives sessions, you shall surely salute him for his wisdom and the suggestions he offer. A kind person at heart and a jolly personality who can make you smile with his motivational talks. Lets start then:

When did you realize you are meant for writing?

I started writing because there’s a long story attached to it that I have discussed many a times in different interviews. Actually my father loved to write but he never let anyone read what he has written in his diary and one fine day, he just put the diary on flames. I don’t know the reason of this but this very incident drives me to write and I have just one motto of writing and that is to be read.

What are your thoughts about co- authoring? Please tell us in context to your book Hey Dad Meet My Mom.

Co-authoring is tough and one should only go for co-authoring when there’s actually a need of it. For example, those who have read HDM3 (Hey Dad Meet my Mom) knows that there are two different timelines and to provide justice to my book, I thought to bring Co-author in and Leepi did fabulous job. Her writing style is so different from mine that the motive got fulfilled.

Which genres have you tried till now? Is there any genre which you wish to try?

I have tried Romance and Thriller but I really want to write Erotic fiction. I found this genre really difficult. It’s a challenge to write an erotica.

Let the Game Begin is a tricky book. What was your inspiration behind this?

My favourite past time is surfing internet for unusual things. I search about aliens, ghosts, accidents, diseases and many more such things. One fine day, this article, about the origin of Chess, landed on my laptop screen. I took a print out of it and started developing the plot. It took me around 6 months to draw the outline of what I should write. The most difficult part about writing this book is setting everything in two different timelines. My whole room was full of A2 sheets where I used to write everything regarding the plot. Those days were nightmares for me.

Tell us about your publishers whom you have worked with? 

Every publisher teaches you a lot. With Gargi Publishing (Pulkit Gupta), I learnt bit about marketing. Why marketing is essential and how effectively this can be carried forward. With Inspire India (Richard Matta), I learned how to increase your reader base. He is a gem of a person, who holds your hand till the end.

How many rejections you faced till now and what you learnt from them?

I got rejected 15 times for HDM3 and 9 (so far) for Let the game begin.

Which genre you can say is your forte?

Thriller, of course. I love writing it.

How much time you take to finish your novel?

This question pops out very often. Actually it took me 2 years to write LTGB, around 9 months to write HDM3 and 2 months to write my next ‘Just a few lies’. Basically, writing can’t be divided in years. There come one day when you don’t feel writing anything and on the very next day, you just want to finish the novel completely. So those days count and no one knows when they will come.

Please throw light on your journey from being an author to a publisher?

I started publishing because I learnt that self-publishing is becoming costly. (Before that let me clear out that I am in favour of Self-Publishing.) I have seen people getting published by throwing 50k for printing and then another lakhs on marketing. So I came up with an idea where the author will pay for his/her marketing, and I’ll print the books for him/her by investing on it.
Coming to the question, there’s no bridge between me being an author and publisher. I am handling both the tasks, so there’s no journey at all.

Which is more difficult? Being an author or being a publisher?

Being a publisher. There are so many things, about being a publisher that annoys me a lot. You have to deal with so many of people that if you lose track, everything’s gone. Being a publisher is surely a headache but I love it because once the book comes in your hand, it feels great.

When can we expect your new works?

Few great stories. I can assure every single reader of mine that all the coming stories are unexpected and will make you walk the roads that are less travelled.

What is more important? Best Seller tag or A Best writer?

For me, Best Seller Tag is important because if no one is reading out there than who will judge that you are a best writer? And conversely, if people are reading you and are content with it, then it means that they consider you as a good writer.

Review

Double or Quits by Shilpa Gupta is an inspiring novel. It is full of motivation and messages. The characters are the mouthpiece of the author and the way she conveys their thoughts is remarkable. The cover of the book surely mesmerize the readers. The color scheme is just apt. The title surely matches the view points shared in the book. We get to know this at the end of the novel.

The plot is gripping and keeps the readers hooked till the end. The story revolves around Jyotsna and the way she makes a place in the society, how she handles the situations without any fear. The book is a roller coaster where we find the hero much later.

The theme of love, friendship, work takes a complete space in the book. Whereas we come to know about the life in a jail. It is difficult though, yet the way it is delineated is appreciable.

The characterization is stupendous. The way the author has highlighted Jyotsna’s character is worth appreciating. Her love, ambitions, struggles surely move the readers and even we end up crying at places. Aryan Sahani is a billionnaire who wants to make Sahani Hospitals a hit by any means. He is infatuated with Jyotsna. The way the things move between them and turn out is a shock for the readers. Nitin’s role is really important and for that you surely need to read this book.

The style of writing is simple,lucid and interesting. The third person narrative and impersonal descriptions makes it organised. The flashbacks are there in between and one surely loves it. The editing is perfectly done and this book can be converted into a movie.
