Made in Heaven- Google on Earth by Akhil Rajurkar highlights a simple and unique concept of life. This book focusses on marriage, the problems faced while looking for the match. If anyone would read it, they would feel that it is their story because everyone goes through this thing sooner or later. I really liked his views and thought process while the search for his partner. To some extend this seems autobiographical. Lets read between the lines then:
Cover- The cover of the book is interesting and hilarious. The color scheme is vibrant so it makes you feel positive about it.
Title- The title is fantastic and even it has a sub title which arouse the seeds of eagerness in our minds. The title doesn’t give us the theme or idea about the book. This seems that the author wants to create the suspense for us.
Blurb- In today’s fast paced world, where every individual is running at a frantic pace to make his career and become successful, somehow he loses his identity, his wishes, his likes. His entire span of life since he graduated from the college goes into making other people happy, and making sure that his actions do not harm anyone. People come and go in his life but finally when the time arrives when he actually wants someone to become his partner for life, he finds that he is left all alone to fight the battle. His parents are the only people who with their selfless actions try and get their child settled, but in the end it is the person who needs to understand what he wants. Times have changed and what was earlier a male dominant ritual has now seen a major reversal.
This story is a reflection of what any normal person has to undergo when he finally decides that he needs to settle down. The world as it was and as it is now is far beyond imagination, expectations are sky-high and choices are limited. Every individual has their own story to tell and he prides in it, the reason being that it was a decision which made him think about himself as well as how his decision would affect the people near him. Belief on destiny and the importance of time is what we learn during this journey.
Plot- The plot of the novel is simple and to some extend it grabs our attention. The author talks about the problems, stigmas and many other things a person goes through while looking out his life partner. At some point he feels dejeted after so many rejections be it a male or female. In this, the author has highlighted one point, that after rejections a person gain experience and then he is ready for the further challenges.
Characterisation- The author has done a fantastic job in delineating the protagonist. The problems he suffer, the way he reacts to situations is impeccable. Sometimes he makes us laugh and sometimes he makes us lament. The whole story revolves around him like the way he deals with those girls, his parents, his office and the police.
Style- I really liked the simplicity used in this novel. The use of flashback technique is the most appreciable segment in the book. The author has beautifully added the comic element and it actually makes us laugh our heart out when we read the police episode. This shows that the author has a great sense of humour. Then he has used decent descriptions for the female characters. He has used many characters and it worked as a blessing for him. He gave us a lesson and one can co- relate to his story. Though there were some typographical errors but once the concept is good, these things can be overlooked for sometime. The author has done a good job as a first timer. I wish him all the best for his future ventures.
